The EcoEarth objective is to build an Auroville - like community, which will become a model for sustainable development in rural areas.
This project appeals to people from different walks of life who have done well for themselves and are looking to get off the corporate highway to a quieter lane, to lead more meaningful lives.
We will provide the know-how for alternative energy sources, rain water harvesting, ground water regeneration and waste water management. We will also help set up cottage industries, like handmade paper, jams, pickles and squashes, furniture and handicrafts. These activities are non-polluting and can help generate a sustainable income for the local population.
However, the core thrust will be in the area of horticulture and floriculture.
Here, EcoEarth will give the local community access to world class, organic agricultural practices and direct access to professionally-run world-class retail chains, resulting in better processing techniques and better revenues for their harvest.
The greatest measure of success of this project will be its ability (due to the clear positioning) to attract people of a certain mindset only. These are people who firmly believe in eco-friendly sustainable development and want to settle down in rural climes.
They have excellent managerial skills from different walks of life: bankers, engineers, scientists, doctors, advertising and marketing professionals, who (as said earlier) want to get off the corporate highway on to a quieter lane. This is perhaps one of the first models in the country that actually encourages the shift of managerial expertise as well as finances from the urban to rural centres.
These customers from diverse backgrounds will form a rich resource of varied skills sets. We will tap into this bank of knowledge and experience to improve the living conditions of the local population while maintaining the sensitive ecological and sociological balance of the rural areas.
This is also in keeping with current government policies on the horticulture/floriculture and can bring in a host of people with the required skills to manage the process of bringing authentic and relevant world practices to these areas. The project will also facilitate the streamlining of logistics and trade in the retail management of fruits, flowers and vegetables.
This is a genuine attempt to maintain and improve the ecological and economic status of the areas in and surrounding our projects and to help provide a sustainable livelihood to the local community.
