The Focus:

        We hope to create a greater awareness for the need to revert to traditional methods of agriculture. Organic and Agro forestry. To create a greater awareness of the larger effects of cutting trees. To Plant and grow more Shola trees. To learn to preserve wild life (Our project area is teeming with wild life). We hope to get our rural folk to switch to solar power when they can afford it and in the meanwhile move to smokeless choolas that are more efficient and bring done carbon emission by 85%.

       We hope to help them live more hygienically, move away from plastics.

Current and future projects:

       a) We run a Primary health care clinic that is supported by Amrutanjan at BL Shed Village. We have treated 1,200 patients in the last 6 months. We also plan to run hypertension and diabetic screening camps at the clinic. Dental and Eye clinics are also planned.

       b) We have adopted a school at the village. Help revamp their kitchen. Put mats on the floor so that the children do not feel the cold floor.We are starting a computer centre that will teach the kids English and make them familiar with computers. And after school hours will educate adults as well.

       C) We have built a pipe line to supply drinking water for the residents of Anjurman Village

       D) We are creating the CKR model farm, wherein we will practise best of class organic cultivation methods and experiment with new crops and new planting techniques, so that our learnings can be shared with the local farmers, while we learn from them as well. For e.g. we are experimenting with Bio degradable plastic bags for plating Coffee saplings, conducting soil and water analysis so that the required nutrients are scientifically introduced into the soil through fertigation .

       e) A bridge across the stream has been built by us at considerable cost to make transportation of fruits and vegetables easier for the villagers at Erivikadu village.

       f)We plan to introduce Envirofit Smokeless stoves and Solar Lanterns at subsidized prices for the homes at B.L.Shed village.

       g) We plan to create a library of Tamil books at the B.L.Shed school

       h) We are building an Electric fence with the right specifications, so that animals(including the elephants) can be kept out without any danger to them, and the farmers crops can be protected.

       Increasing the value of local produce

        The model farm that we are creating will bring the best of organic agri practices to the local farmer. By experimenting and showing him how it is done, and also showing him that it is economically viable we encourage the local farmer to move to organic practices.

       We have also hired a Deputy Director of Agriculture (retd) to help us with the model farm, put us in touch with local Agri and horticultural departments, govt subsidies etc and we hope our experiences here will help the surrounding farmers. We will also have an arrangement with a leading FMCG company, who will retail our produce, thereby giving the farmer access to retail markets in India and abroad.

        We hope that by bringing in best of class agri practices, providing basic packaging on site and access to retail markets we can help the local farmer earn more for his produce. We also plan to start a food processing centre that will help manage the excess fruits of the season. To make Jams, Pickles and Squashes.

        Last but not the least we will tap on the expertise and experience of our customers who have already begun to settle down in Kodi to help bring about better efficiencies and therefore better value.

       But we must stress here that it is a two way street. We learn many things from the village folk. We hope that this venture will help them lead a better life. And make ours more meaningful.
